I was thinking of using warcraft three to high light the exploitation of the labor force by the rich. While the peon's take all the risks and do all the work, the ruling class sit idly by and take all the credit.
During the game I ran tonight. I played as humans and only created peons. These peons did all the fighting, all the collecting and all the building. No upgrades were purchased unless they allowed for the the town hall to be upgraded to keep and then castle. As the round progressed, the board was stripped of all available resources. Gold
mines were turned to rubble and only stumps remained where once-proud
trees stood. After the frontline was pushed far enough back, the peons built a hall of kings and the mountain king came in, who promptly bought a queen, who, in turn, bought expensive trinkets and casually discarded them on the ground. Once the opposing force was all but eliminated, the workers began building a small camp and surrounded it with sentry towers. As that neared completion, the mountain king and his queen made their way toward the near defenseless enemy base. With no work to perform, the peons migrated toward their new camp. Once there, the gathered inside as a few workers finished walling them in. With the opposing force decimated, the king and queen destroyed the enemy base. The sentry towers turned to turret towers and a great magical sentry tower was built inside the camp. With all the workers inside, the magical sentry tower began randomly killing a peon here and there, who did not retaliate. Occasionally, a peon would aid in the killing of its brethren.
I used the cheat, "whosyourdaddy" to make the peons invincible to enemy attacks to enable this to happen. I saved the replay and will be using fraps or another screen capture program to record specific portions. Once finished with that, I'm going to make a movie from. This is the first time I've done a machinema.
The play through alone took an hour. This is going to take a while to do right.
What do you guys think?
i like the idea. a lot actually.
ReplyDeletebut machinema is a little strange,
as it is the bastard child of gaming and cinema,
but ultimately finds a home AS cinema.
so, at the end of the day, it needs to be compelling
as a video.
i think specific attention to audio will be a real asset here.
