Associating yourself with a video game character is an easy task, one that developers count on to get you to keep buying a certain series of video games. However, choosing an avatar that you feel most comfortable in his/her/its place is a much more difficult enterprise altogether, as an astounding majority of characters are designed to not be anything remotely relatable to the average person in the assumption that putting yourself in the shoes 'humanity's last hope' or 'god' would prove more interesting to players, and therefore, marketable. So with this held in mind, I've decided that I could most closely empathize with that of Paper Mario. I say this because I can most relate the Paper Mario dynamic to my own life and experience. As an artist, I am constantly attempting to break out of the consonance of everyday living and achieve a semblance of something extrinsic, something I believe Paper Mario achieves quite well by interacting with 3 Dimensional space within a 2-D world. Also, and most importantly, almost all of the actual progression in the game is accomplished through the meeting and interaction with Paper Mario's various friends and acquaintances. Sure, I can swing a hammer every once and a while but I can't actually get anywhere in life without others.
"Hey there Koopa, know of any internships this summer?"
