Sam and Jesse's Game
- rewards (how/what)
Players receive satisfaction in reaching a goal/overcoming difficulties.
They also learn about the molecular structure, atomic numbers, mixtures, and the Periodic Table by shrinking down and rearranging the molecular makeup of certain objects.
- target audience_real audience (who/why)
Since the game has puzzle elements, we feel it would appeal to puzzle fans. In particular those fond of games such as Limb, Portal, and Scribblenauts. Also, given the subject matter of the game, it could be a learning tool for those looking for a fun way to discover molecular structure/makeup, atoms, mixtures, compounds, and the Periodic Table.
- learning curve (how)
We feel that a brief tutorial should occur towards the beginning of the game to introduce players to the rules of the game. After that, it is up to the player to discover a means to the goal in each stage.
- chance_control (what/how)
Only certain objects can be manipulated, similar to the walls in Portal: only certain white surfaces can act as a location of a portal. The player can crate interesting/new compounds or forms of matter by rearranging molecules/electrons/atoms.
- actuality of work (what)
Players move along through out the game shrinking down to atomic levels to alter the molecular structure of different materials in order to progress to the goal. The user manipulates the atoms, molecules, protons, neurons, and/or electrons to create new materials. Just be careful not to split an atom…
- feedback_metrics (how)
Players shrink down to 3 different sizes to alter the molecular structure of matter. By messing around/altering with this structure, the player is able to transform the previous form of matte into something entirely different, allowing the player to take on the role of an alchemist.
what opportunities does being small offer a player?
ReplyDeletebeing big? will small changes have big ramifications?
will removing an atom from a water molecule change everything
as we know it? will saving the game be a function of the game play,
like in dark souls? keep going.
