rules. and thoughts.

realtime personfesto:

- do not imitate other media, develop a unique aesthetic style.

- video games are a collage media.

- close the gap between the player and their choices.

- allow for the destabilization of authorship.

- make games that would fail in any other medium.

- rules, goals, and feedback create the interaction.

- the value of a game is defined through the use of the player.

- games are seemingly general systems which create the perception of unique experiences.

- the lack of freedom within games unifies the society of players.

- games create a vocabulary of shared experiences.

- market permeability is a bad place to aim for a good game, but elitism doesn't make it good.

- remember that the game designer is its first player.

- that which the player spends the most time doing, should also be the most interesting facet of the game.
