Shovelware

Software of inferior quality with little to no usefulness. Shovelware titles are often created and produced quickly in order to take advantage of a gaming fad. Usually from unknown studios, bargain priced, and sold as a bundle.

  1. I would also definitely add games that are adapted from cinematic releases at the time to the 'usually' list. They tend to sell only because of the movie hype and usually end up being complete garbage gameplay-wise.

  2. iShovelware. This would be shovelware designed and directly marketed to take advantage of the popularity of Apple's app store.
