lag

refers to the delay in network connectivity in a multiplayer game which causes the game to stutter or lag.
could also be used in reference to a computer that is stuttering because it's computing power is too low to process the game

  1. Although the term lag is commonly used for a noticeable delay in game response, all games actually incur lag. This is because it can also refer to the time it takes for the input from the player to reach the hardware and then back to the output.
