Fun with Gmod

If you own most of the Valve games on PC/MAC and have some extra cash, you should get Garry's Mod. It allows you to pull up assets from various Valve games and pose them, break physics, and make horrifying creations. During the summer sale, I convinced some friends to throw down a whopping four dollars for Gmod and then the chaos began.

The three of us were playing on bad internet connections in three different corners of the US, but this didn't deter us from enjoying Garry's Mod.

Once the world was generated, we experimented with generating models. Soon after, one of my friends formulated a game similar to mousetrap. He would generate a huge piece of a map, a pyramid or a mountain, which is hollow inside, and try to trap his friends underneath the model and lock it in place. A dick move, if you ask me.

If you don't have the right assets installed, giant error messages will attack you.

When my friend started spawning colossi, I realized that I didn't have the asset downloaded to my new computer. Instead of not showing the model at all, they were represented as giant ERROR messages that made horrible horse-like sounds and shot missiles. To the upper right, you can see David flying away like a little girl.

Later, on my own time, I did an experiment where I spawned over 200 models of computers onto a field. This was really repetitive, so my lust for violence eventually won and I began firing indiscriminately into the pile of computer monitors. This caused a chain reaction where the physics affected the entire pile of computers and then my real-life computer shut off. You probably shouldn't do that.

There was another game we made, too. Spawn a vehicle chair, lock it in midair, get into the chair, have your friend throw you around with the gravity gun = FUN
