More about Panopticism

Man, so yesterday's discussion got me to thinking about this game, dishonored.  Have any of you heard of it?  I personally can't wait for this game!  It's going to be amazing!  But the reason I'm telling you guys about it, is that it just screams "plague state!"  I've read up a little on the story and game play so far, and it's just uncanny how some of it matches up already with the ideas and roles we discussed yesterday.  Any way, the game has a magistrate (could be the emperor), citizens (the citizens), facilitators, sick, crows.  The game even has a plague literally going on, with guards enforcing curfews, people dying of the plague, etc.  You play the role of an assassin, but I think you can make it through the game without killing anyone.  You also have some special powers I think, kinda of in the same vein of bioshock.  Anyways, I can go on and on how much I like this game already, but you should totally read a preview and see what you think.  I just thought it was cool how much this game matches up with our discussion.

  1. This game looks very interesting. It seems similar to Half-Life 2. those walking things look like striders.

The idea of always being watched was a part of Half-Life 2, whether by the combine, or Gman. but since gordon was such a silent badass, it kind of didn't fully reach panopticism.
